ABOUT ART THERAPY

Art Therapy uses creative techniques (such as painting, drawing, collage, sewing, sculpture) integrating psychotherapy to help patients cope with stress (and develop healthy coping skills), improve cognitive functioning, manage pain, maintain emotional well-being, gain a safe place to self discover and be expressive, and create an alternative/powerful way of communication.

Missy Drescher, MAAT, Art Therapist, has experience with a diversity of populations, such as adolescents (ages 4-17 years old) to elderly and EOL (End Of Life) Caregiving. She has utilized art therapy to heal/help reproductive issues, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addictions, substance abuse, suicide ideation. She has assisted those recovering from human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual abuse, racial/gender discrimination, medical trauma, PTSD and C-PTSD, and crisis stabilization.
